Demand for flights to the Philippines could soar if the
government invests more heavily in infrastructure upgrades, an
expert has said.
According to Cynthia Romero Mamon, vice president of sales and
marketing at Enchanted Kingdom, the Asian nation boasts many
world-class tourist attractions.
However, she noted that visitor numbers are still lagging behind
those in other neighbouring countries, such as Singapore.
Speaking the Manila Times, Ms Mamon said the government should
therefore invest more heavily in improving the infrastructure
across the country.
This, she stated, would encourage even more people to book
flights to Manila and other hotspots of
activity around the nation.
Ms Mamon said investment in transport facilities, such as the
road network and international airports, should be a major
priority.
This comes after Alberto Lim, the Filipino tourism secretary,
said the government wants to double annual revenues from the
holiday industry over the next six years by encouraging what he
described as "quality tourism".
