Dhaka, being the capital and largest city of Bangladesh, is known for its rich history and cultural traditions. Lalbagh Fort

Built in 1678 AD, the fort of Aurangabad is popularly called as the Lalbagh fort. The three storied fort is known to have a big mosque with slender minarets and many hidden passages. The fort was built by Prince Mohammad Azam, the son of mughal emperor Aurangazeb and the then viceroy of Bengal. Among the most prominent monuments of the lalbagh fort, some of them are the tomb of pari bibi (fairy lady), audience room and the Hummam Khana (bathing place) of Nawab Shaista Khan which now houses a museum. The fort has been a witness of a bloody battle of 1857 revolt against the British forces.

More so, it is a well known historical place of mughal era where visitors can come across a small museum containing clothes and weapons of mughal emperors.

Bangladesh National Museum

Located in shahbag, the museum contains a number of interesting collections of paintings and sculptures of the Hindu, Muslim and Buddhist period. Not just that, it also contains the inscriptions of holy book, Quran. Besides, the museum offers its visitors a rich collection of art books, metal images, old coins, and silver filigree works etc.

Science Museum

The museum is located at Agargaon that is known as a centre of modern learning in latest scientific discoveries.

Star Mosque

Since the walls of the mosque are decorated with mosaic stars, it is named so. Though originally it was built in Mughal style, later a few changes were introduced to enhance its beauty. From the time of early 18th century only, the Star Mosque has been one of the most popular attractions for the tourists.
