Belfast passengers who wish to fly to Amsterdam have a reason to cheer as Dutch national carrier KLM has announced to operate this route from May.

The carrier operating from George Best Belfast City Airport will offer access to various global destinations through Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.

With this launch, the airlines link with South America, the Middle East and Far East will be strengthened.

Belfast is the only airline in the UK and Ireland which is in KLM Royal Dutch Airline’s expansion plans.

An official from the Belfast Airport said that launch of KLM’s Belfast - Amsterdam route is a major achievement for the airport and it will prove a great boon for tourism and business for the region.

Schiphol is an important hub of the KLM network and is one of the busiest airports in Europe with connectivity to more than 300 destinations.
