Tianjin Airlines has launched a new route between London Gatwick and Tianjin with a stopover in Chongqing. With this launch the travelers would be able to fly direct between London and Chongqing.

The airline will operate this route twice a week between London and Tianjin using an aircraft with a capacity to accommodate 260 passengers.

Previously Hainan Airlines introduced a direct service between Manchester and Beijing. With this launch Tianjin Airline is the only carrier connecting China with Gatwick.

Currently flights to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Chengdu operated by Air China, China Southern Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Cathay Pacific and British Airways from Heathrow.

A top official from the airline said that the route was chosen keeping in view increasing trade and cultural ties between China and London recently.

Last year more than 1 million passengers travelled between UK and China, which is 11 percent more than 2014.

The launch of new service will further strengthen business and tourism ties between these destinations.
