WestJet launches first Glasgow - Halifax route

Flying options from Glasgow Airport has increased as WestJet a Canadian airline, has launched daily direct flights to Halifax, Nova Scotia.

WestJet is first time serving an airport in the UK and it is airline’s second transatlantic service following the launch in 2014 of direct flights to Dublin. A large number of officials from the both sides were present at Glasgow Airport to wave off the new service.

Halifax a port city and the capital of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia enjoys strong historic and cultural links with Scotland. The airline will operate this route with a Boeing 737-700 aircraft.

The service is expected to be well received by business and leisure travellers from both the sides. The services that will reach destination in five hours 15 minutes will be operated daily until 24 October 2015, giving passengers onward connections to Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and 16 other cities in WestJet’s Canadian network.
