Dalian - Where parks and squares are major attractions

A recent survey has declared Dalian as the most livable city in China. Those who have not visited the city could be sceptic about this honour. Visit its beaches, explore its market and view its squares and garden, and you will find this honour and admiration is well deserved. The city is beautifully strewn with lawns, square and fountains that earn it the nickname of “A City Built in Gardens”. Football and fashion are other obsessions for the city. Here we dish out information on major attractions of the city for the tourists planning a trip to Dalian.

Labour Park

Dalian is famous for its gardens and Labor Park is one of the finest specimens. This hilly park has a giant football in its centre that reminds you of the times when local soccer team, Dàlián Shi'de, was the best in China. The architecture of the park beautifully combines western and Chinese styles. You can also catch the panoramic view of the city from the TV tower.

Golden Pebble Beach

Situated 60km south of the city Golden Pebble Beach is going under a makeover to become a hub for tourism. The beach is extremely beautiful with a large number of rock formations and theme parks in vicinity. Besides, there are other beautiful beaches lining the Dalian Peninsula that includes Xinghai Beach, Bangchuidao Beach and Fujiazhuang Beach.

Amazing architecture

Despite not a big city, Dalian boasts of some fine specimens of architecture. The city has been the colony of both Russia and Japan. And the city’s architecture is an eclectic mix of Russian and Japanese architecture. Some of the historic buildings have been removed in a bid to renovation but a large number of buildings are still intact and waiting for your attention.

Dalian Forest Zoo

Apart from its other allures Dalian is also home to a beautiful zoo which is highly popular among the tourists. Situated south of the city centre amidst hillside the zoo is divided into two parts. The zoo has an inside rainforest and space to showcase animal talent. Rhinos, tigers, lions, and polar bears are some of the celebrity inhabitants.

Spectacular Squares

Squares are omnipresent in the city of Dalian and every square has a distinct character. Zhongshan Square is a financial hub where you can spot some Japanese buildings. Renmin Square is the place where several government buildings are situated. The guests can also see a beautiful fountain here. Xinghai Square, the largest squares in Asia, is surrounded by an array of tourist attractions.

Dalian International Fashion Festival

Apart from its regular attractions; Dalian is well known for one more thing Dalian International Fashion Festival. The event held in September every year is a combination of trade, commerce, art, culture and tourism. The event is marked by ceremonies, fashion shows and fashion competitions.
