At first glance, Dubai intimidates with its larger than life persona but look beneath its dazzling face and you’ll find that this glamorous diva is very affable in nature and plays a courteous host to the travellers from around the world who happily succumb to its charm. Despite having several world famous landmarks to its kitty; this beautiful city situated amidst the deserts chooses to remain courteous to business and leisure tourists who come from the different corners of the world. Let us understand this city.

Those who think that Dubai is another Las Vegas should rather stay away from this city as it might disappoint them. It is not as glossy as Vegas and there is no question of casinos, as gambling is illegal here.

Tourists may blame Dubai for having an obsession with skyscrapers. And once you get to the city you’ll be agree with it. This proud home of Burj Khalifa (tallest building on earth) is renowned for its dazzling skyline. In recent decades, the city has emerged as a shopping destination of repute and presence of several shopping Malls testifies this fact. The traditional shopping hubs like Gold Souks and Spice Souks are there but these are climate controlled shopping malls that steal the thunder. In addition there are several entertainment options and indoor activities to keep you engaged for few days. These new age attractions may have some appeal but the aura of camel safari in Dubai is still insurmountable.

Ideal time to visit

The city shimmers with heat for the most parts of the year. The tourists should plan a trip from November to March when temperature is relatively mild. Those who are looking for the trinity of sand, surf and Sea should plan a trip during autumn.

Dubai is well connected to the major parts of the world through airlines. From the UK, British Airways and Emirates offer direct flights to Dubai. Most flights to Dubai are from Heathrow airport.

Getting around in Dubai is quite easy as the city has a dependable public transport system. There are metro trains, buses; taxis and car hire to take you from one place to another.

There are enough visual delights and activities in the city to explore. Burj Khalifa the tallest building in the world offers a commanding view of the city from its observation desk. You should also visit the Dubai Fountain which is the largest dancing fountain in the world. The fountain throws water as high as 150m. Dubai Marina is highly sought after place with beaches, hotels and shopping avenues. Steal some time to visit Gold Souk and Spice souk in old city. The city is a Mecca for water sport enthusiasts as it has some of the most spectacular beaches in the world. Dubai is also well known for its desert safari which tourists should give a try.
