Generally people think that Gaborone’s art revolves around the Baskets and Pottery. While these two crafts forms dominate the markets of the city, but there are also some knowledgeable painters and sculptures creating some lively art work.

Pottery

Culturally, soil pots were used as an essential part of daily life, so seeing the step to crafting them as a commercial enterprise is a great thing. Soil pots are made to store water, customary beer and also for cooking. Usually, the women in the society are responsible for storing and molding the soil that create red and brown color pots.

Wooden Crafts

Traditional Baskets

Every basket is created from the leaf fiber of the young real fan palm which gets stripped into strings before weaving.
