The small sleepy town of Teresina is the capital of the State of Piaui in Brazil. This hottest city in Brazil is well known for being home to some of the medical institutions of repute. This first planned city of Brazil was founded in 1852. The city is 19th largest capital in Brazil and together with neighbouring city Timon it becomes 15th largest city in the country. Teresina is also considered one of the safest and most livable cities by several rating agencies. With a host of business and leisure opportunities, the city is also visited by a good number of visitors in order to fulfil their varying aspiration. Here we suggest some of the major attractions in and around city.

Most of the visitors flying to Teresina also make it a priority to visit the Central de Artesanato which showcases crafts from all over Piauí. The guests can visit an array of shops that sells things like sculptures, leather articles, intricate lacework, colorful hammocks and opals among other things. There is a small restaurant where you can have snack and coffee.

Potycabana Park could be other attraction for travellers visiting Teresina. Situated on the banks of River Poti, the park offers an opportunity to escape from the hustle-bustle of the city. Inaugurated in 1990, the park has several recreational options and guests have to choose from indoor and outdoor facilities.

Despite being small in size, Teresina is home to several interesting things that include Mercado Troca-Troca where you can exchange on thing for other. With a small origin under a fig tree the market has grown in size. Situated on the banks of the River Parnaíba, the market is visited by local and foreigners alike.

Museu Histórico do Piauí is a fine place to get an insight into the history of the region. And guests can see several exhibits spread across different floors. There are exhibits on the history of the state; religious art; popular art; archaeology; plants, animals and minerals. The museums also houses some rare artefacts.

Parque Zoobotânico do Piauí is a botanical park situated on the road going north from Teresina towards União. The zoo part of the park is not in good condition and it needs urgent attention from the authorities. The guests can see armadillos (tatu) wandering around the park and visitors can get photographed with them. The park also has a lake but it is not safe to swim. However the park can boast excellent flora.
