Holidaying in snow-capped mountains, pristinely beautiful beaches, beautiful natural trails or cities built atop the sea means just an ordinary holiday trip. But for many this normal travel is boring. They want to explore the unexplored destinations or places so that they can fill their vacations with more thrill and excitement. Undoubtedly these places never leave you so easily and certainly astonish you with their weirdness.

Karni Mata Temple, Deshnok,Rajasthan, India

It is truly unbelievable but India’s small northwestern city of Desnoke is renowned for Karni Mata Temple. Constructed by Maharaja Ganga Singh in early 1900s, it is a tribute to the rat goddess, Karni Mata. The temple is renowned for its devotion to the furry animals, often seen as a curse of urban area. Rats scurry throughout the temple where they are worshipped, fed and protected. According to a legend the rodents occupying the temple are in fact family members of Karni Mata. Many visitors offer sweets and other candy to the vermin. While black and brown rats are easily spotted in the temple but seeing a white rat is a blessing. According to the temple rules, killing a rat is a sin and the perpetrator is bound to buy a gold or silver rat statue and place it in the temple as a payment of sin. Island of the Dolls, Xochimilco, Mexico

It is a real place outside of Mexico City, which for decades has been a home to hundreds of decaying dolls. The island was once the property of Don Julian Santana, a local former. According to a legend, in 1950 he saw a little girl drown in the canal and her spirit began hunting the place. Terrified Don Julian started collecting the dolls and hung them around the island in order to protect himself from the ghost. Since then he had collected more than 1,500 dolls and after his death in 2001, his cousin Anastasio now lives on the island, running it as a tourist attraction.

Avanos Hair Museum, Avanos, Turkey

Avanos is a small town in the Cappodocian area of Turkey is renowned for its history of ceramics and pottery dating back thousands of years. But now a new attraction emerged in the area generating lots of interest. The Avanos hair museum is notable one and one of the strangest museums that you will come across. The museum is located in a small cave underneath a pottery shop and contains hair samples, names and address from more than 16,000 women from all around the world. The museum was founded by Chez Galip, a talented potter, 30 years ago when one of his friends cut a piece of her hair and gave it to the potter to remember her. Since then, the women who so ever visited it and heard the story gave him a piece of hair with a complete address. Throughout the years the collections are now converted into a museum with an impressive collection of 16,000 differently colored locks from the women all around the world.

Giant Gundam Robot, Tokyo, Japan

The giant Gundam robot became a huge attraction in Tokyo which is tasked with standing guard outside the country. The 18 meter Gundam has taken a place in front of the Diver City, Tokyo Plaza complex which houses the theme park of the animation series bearing the same name. With a moving head and lights shining out from 50 spots from its body this 35 ton giant robot is getting very popular among tourists.

Bubblegum Alley, California, USA

Bubblegum Alley in San Luis Obispo, California is a unique landmark boats an unbelievable amount of chewed bubble gum struck to a long line of alley walls. Despite the disgust of some of the locals, the wall remains open to the visitors to add new wads of gum.

Nine hells of Beppu, Japan

Located on the island of Kyushu, Japan, Beppu is home to over 2,800 hot springs that gush out ridiculous amounts of water every day, Beppu is named as the hot springs capital of Japan. It is among popular tourist attractions of country with each of its spring has unique features. It is the second largest producer of geothermal water in the world but is little known outside of the country.
