BA launches direct flights to Sharm El Sheikh

British vacationers flying to Egyptian resort town of Sharm El Sheikh have more flying options now, as British Airways has launched direct flights from Gatwick to Sharm El Sheikh.

The airline is operating this route with Airbus A320s. In addition the carrier has also unveiled its new free business loyalty program 'On Business' for travellers on this sector.

With this launch the passengers would have option to choose from two flights a week to this popular diving hotspot. The services will be increased to thrice a week during the winters offering travellers more flying options and flexible timings.

A top placed official from the airline said that Sharm El Sheikh has consistently been a favourite tourism destination and an important destination for the carrier. She further said that addition of the new flights from London Gatwick is a welcome addition to help promote tourism to Egypt.

An official from Gatwick airport expressed pleasure on addition of new route has brought the number of short haul network to 49 and long haul to 19.

Owing to its proximity to crystal clear coastline, Sharm El Sheikh has been a hot favourite among family vacationers and divers.
