Encounters Film Festival to be held in Cape Town and Johannesburg

The 16th Encounters South African International Documentary Festival will be held from 5 to 15 June 2014 in Cape Town and Johannesburg. During this festival South African audience will get to see an array of local and international films that have made headlines.

The line-up of films has also been announced. In The Unknown Known Oscar-winner Errol Morris depicts life of former US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.

And in Return to Homs, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance, two friends’ fight back against the army has been depicted. In The Green Prince, which won the Audience Award at Sundance, the story of the oldest son of a founding member of Hamas, who agrees to spy for Israel, is narrated.

Other documentaries telling contrasting tales of injustice will also be screened during the festival.

The festival is expected to be attended by movie buffs from around the world. UK based travellers can board flights to Cape Town or Johannesburg to watch some of the award winning documentaries.
