Aegean Airlines, a leading carrier in Greece has announced to boost its capacity on Birmingham - Athens route in summer 2015 by 8,500 seats. The airline has taken this decision after successful launch of the route in June this year.

The services to be operated on every Wednesday and Sunday between April and October 2015 will offer direct connectivity to the Greek capital besides offering onward connectivity to the Greek Islands and mainland Greece through its extensive network.

The carrier will operate this route using 168 seats Airbus A320 aircraft in two class configuration.

A top placed official from Birmingham Airport said that the service is highly popular among travellers as it not only offers direct access to Athens but also connectivity to Greek Islands, which are a hot favourite among the British tourists. Recognising the demand in the Midlands region the airline not only recommenced services in April but also increased capacity over the summer months from Birmingham.

With a history dating back to 3,400 years, Athens is one of the oldest cities in the world that attracts travellers to visit its ancient centres of the arts, learning and philosophy. Athens of today is a thriving metropolis and economic, financial, industrial, political and cultural hub of Greece.

The increase in capacity provides travellers more travel options between these destinations.
