Ryanair, a leading low cost carrier, has announced to operate London Munich route. However the carrier has not disclosed the name of the London airport.

The carrier has plans to open a hub at Munich airport next year and London is all set to be the first destination it will serve from Munich.

A senior official from the Irish carrier said that, if approved, the route will commence operations in winter 2016, or even earlier. Currently, the airline serves mainland Europe airports/hubs that include Brussels, Malpensa, Prague Copenhagen, Madrid, Milan and Rome Fiumicino.

Services to Amsterdam would be added later this month and slot have been requested at Paris Charles De Gaulle for summer 2016.

Currently, the airline serves Munich through Memmingen, which is more than 115 kilometres away.

Opening of new hub is airlines’ strategy to offer more convenient services and win over business travellers.

Currently Easyjet is the only airline that operates London-Munich flights as it offers services to Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.
