Garuda Indonesia has announced to launch flights on Gatwick – Jakarta route. The service that will commence on September 8 will connect these destinations via Amsterdam.

The Indonesian flag carrier will operate this route five times a week using a Boeing 777-300ER. The services will connect to the airline onward flights to Australia.

Previously, Garuda planned a non-stop service in May but postponed it after facing difficulty in getting slots at Gatwick during the summer peak.

A highly placed official of the airline said that launch of London–Jakarta service will boost economic and tourism activities in the region. With several tourists attractions dotting the Indonesian capital the route is expected to be well received by the UK based travellers.

Founded in 1947, Garuda Indonesia serves 76 destinations with a fleet size of 120.
