Ryanair has commenced services on Shannon – Manchester route. The launch of flights is a great relief for the passengers who were disappointed with news of withdrawal of Aer Lingus Regional from this route.

In a statement, Aer Lingus has said that its withdrawal from the route has nothing to do with Ryanair taking up the popular route.

Aer Lingus operates this route three times daily using an ATR42-300 turbo prop aircraft with a capacity of carrying 48 passengers.

Ryanair will operate a single daily service using Boeing 737-800 jets. The new service will take 30 minutes less time than Aer Lingus service.

In a statement Aer Lingus has said that it has taken the decision after wider route review. The taking up of this Shannon – Manchester route by Ryanair will help maintain valuable connection between these destinations.
