Easyjet has launched its inaugural Manchester to Gibraltar flight. The route was announced in December, last year. The carrier bases 11 aircrafts in Manchester and operates 45 flights from there.

Last year, the carrier carried more than 2.6 million passengers to and from this airport.

The carrier is expected to carry 30,000 passengers annually on the route. The route will be operated twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

Previously, the carrier announced two new routes to Turin, Las Palmas and Grand Canaria. The new routes will strengthen airlines position at Manchester Airport.

A senior official from the airline who looks after airline’s operations in Gibraltar expressed his pleasure on launch of flights. He said that launch of new service would provide easy and affordable travel options to business and leisure travelers to an array of year-round destinations.

An official from Manchester airport also welcomed the inaugural flight from Manchester to Gibraltar saying adding Gibraltar to their network would offer more locations to 22 million people in their catchment area.
