Bmi regional to start services between Karlstad and Frankfurt

The UK based carrier bmi regional will launch Embraer E-145 6X weekly service between Karlstad in southern Sweden and Frankfurt from 26th May. The service will be the first direct schedule air link between the southern-Swedish town and Germany. The airline has launched new UK routes over the past year, is also moving into mainland Europe.

To date bmi regional has carried over 33,000 passengers from East Midlands Airport to Frankfurt and is the only airline to operate direct flights between the cities and onward connections via Frankfurt Airport hub. It currently operates 16 flights to Frankfurt every week using Embraer 145 jet fleet.

According to Cathal O’Connell, CEO of bmi, the route is a part of the airline’s new business strategy of expanding its markets with strong growth possibilities especially in Scandinavia. Flights to Karlstad offer great growth opportunities for business and leisure travel to and from Karlstad, convinced bmi to launch connecting flights to Frankfurt. bmi have existing experience of serving the Swedish business and leisure travellers and is also fly from Gothenburg, Landvetter to Stavanger in Norway and Birmingham international in England.
