Canadian budget airline WestJet has announced to launch six seasonal new routes from London Gatwick Airport.

From coming May, the airline will commence flights from Gatwick to Calgary, Edmonton, St. John's, Toronto, Vancouver and Winnipeg.

WestJet CEO referred the launch of new routes as historic and a major milestone for the airline. It is not going to be airlines first destination in Europe as it is already flying from Dublin, Ireland, and Glasgow, Scotland.

The announcement of expansion came after airline’s acquisition of Boeing 767 jets as it opened up long haul possibilities for the airline.

The addition of new route by Westjet will spark new competition which will benefit leisure and business travellers flying on this route.

The soon to be launched services are supposed to be well received by business and leisure travellers from both the countries.
